Lexus is consistently known for great reliability, value, and overall customer satisfaction. Available in a wide array of trims and four different powertrain options, the 2026 Lexus NX offers loads of options, including hybrid and plug-in hybrid models. The Lexus NX also earned a Top Safety Pick + award from IIHS. Inside, the NX boasts the kind of luxury you would expect from a Lexus, including NuLuxe upholstered seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, eight-way heated power-adjustable seats, and a 9.8-inch Lexus Interface touchscreen display. Additionally, the NX comes with a seven-inch multi-information display/driver-information center. The Lexus NX also comes with all-wheel drive as standard equipment across all trims.

    NX Price Trends

With Lexus’ great reliability, the NX also depreciates less than many others. It retains 54% of its value after years of ownership, edging out many other vehicles in its class.

    2026 Chevrolet Trailblazer

The 2026 Chevrolet Trailblazer offers strong entry-level value with tons of features for the money. The Trailblazer comes standard with a 1.2-liter ECOTEC inline four-cylinder, promising excellent fuel economy and decent performance with its 137 horsepower. The base Trailblazer LS front-wheel-drive model comes with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). However, for another $2,000, you can have all-wheel drive and a nine-speed transmission.

Perhaps not as posh as the Lexus NX, the base Trailblazer comes with either a Jet Black or Jet Black/Medium Ash cloth interior prioritizing function over form. However, the Trailblazer also boasts both an eight-inch diagonal color driver information display and an 11-inch diagonal HD color infotainment touchscreen. The Trailblazer’s shortcoming is its overall safety score, which was lower than the Lexus due to some poor ratings for crash avoidance and mitigation. However, with the Trailblazer’s ten airbags, it still received an overall good safety score from IIHS.

    Trailblazer Price Trends

The Chevy Trailblazer has higher depreciation compared to the vehicles on this list, dropping 53% of its original value after five years of ownership.

    2026 Mazda CX-50

    Base MSRP: $29,900

2026 Mazda CX-50 Base Model Overview

    60 months / 60,000 miles (Powertrain) 36 months / 36,000 miles (Bumper to Bumper)

    J.D. Power Rating

    77/100

The 2026 Mazda CX-50 brings great value with its standard i-ACTIV all-wheel drivetrain, even in the entry-level 2.5 S Select trim. The CX-50 comes with Mazda’s 2.5-liter DOHC four-cylinder mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with a manual shift mode. The Mazda CX-50 comes loaded with leatherette-trimmed seats, a leather-wrapped gear shifter, and steering wheel. However, the CX-50 does not come with power adjustable seats. Both driver’s passenger front seats are manually adjusted; six ways for the driver and four ways for the passenger. The screens in the CX-50 are smaller than those of the Trailblazer with the infotainment screen measuring 10.25 inches and the driver information screen measuring only seven inches.

    CX-50 Price Trends

The CX-50 scores well in safety and has excellent depreciation, losing only 39.3% of its value after five years of ownership. It makes for a good buy in 2026.

    Subaru Crosstrek

    Base MSRP: $26,995

2026 Subaru Crosstrek Base Model Overview

    Engine

    54.7 / 19.9 ft³

    Warranty

    60 months / 60,000 miles (Powertrain) 36 months / 36,000 miles (Bumper to Bumper)

    J.D. Power Rating

    85/100

The 2026 Subaru Crosstrek is a favorite known for its 2.5-liter Boxer four-cylinder engine and robust symmetrical all-wheel drive system. The base Crosstrek doesn’t come with as many goodies as the Lexus or the Mazda, so no leather appointments, power seats, or heated steering wheel. The base Crosstrek does, however, come with Subaru’s Dual Function X-Mode, Hill Descent Control, and Vehicle Dynamics Control that works together with Active Torque Vectoring for the ultimate driving confidence.

The base-model Crosstrek comes with a good old-fashioned gauge cluster that includes an analog speedometer and tachometer with a 4.2-inch color LCD. However, should you decide you want the large 12.3-inch fully configurable digital instrument cluster, you’ll have to opt for either the Sport Hybrid or Limited Hybrid trim.

    Crosstrek Price Trends

The Crosstrek has a stellar depreciation rate, in that after five years of ownership, it only loses 28% of its original value, and that is why the Subaru is on this list.

    2026 Kia Sorento

    Base MSRP: $32,390

2026 Kia Sorento Base Model Overview

    75.5 / 38.5 / 12.6 ft³

    Warranty

    10 yrs / 100,000 miles

    J.D. Power Rating

    76/100

The 2026 Kia Sorento finds itself in the middle of the pack. Although it does carry a lower overall score from J.D. Power and the base model only comes in FWD, the Sorento does boast three rows of seating, making this Kia a great value for a three-row SUV. The Kia comes standard with a normally aspirated 2.5-liter DOHC four-cylinder mated to an eight-speed transmission – no CVT here. The Sorento is also known for its excellent reliability and safety, earning a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the IIHS. According to the iSeeCars website, the SUV experiences slightly above average depreciation after five years of ownership, losing 48.4% of its original value.

The seats are cloth upholstered, with manual adjustment. However, the steering wheel and shift knob are both wrapped up in leather for a better overall fit and finish. The Sorento does deliver on the screen front with a large 12.3-inch infotainment display and a four-inch instrument display. Its main value is in its three rows of seating, and, of course, Kia’s trademark 100,000-mile warranty.

    2026 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid

    Base MSRP: $32,450

    38 / 38 / 38 mpg

    Cargo (Seats down/Seats up)

    74.5 / 38.7 ft³

    Warranty

    10 yrs / 100,000 miles

    J.D. Power Rating

    81/100

The 2026 Hyundai Tucson is a great choice for compact SUV value, and it comes standard with all-wheel drive. The Tucson uses a powerful hybrid drivetrain consisting of a 1.6-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine paired with a single electric motor that provides an additional 64 horsepower. The interior offers manually adjustable cloth seats, and a 12.3-inch infotainment display with a 4.2-inch driver’s information center. The Tuscon is not a three-row, but it still offers similar cargo space to the Kia Sorento.

    Tucson Price Trends

The Hyundai Tucson shares a stellar 10-year/100,000-mile warranty, but retains better value than the Kia Sorento after five years of ownership, losing only 42.3% of its original value.

    2026 Subaru Forester

    Base MSRP: $29,995

2026 Subaru Forester Base Model Overview

    26 / 33 / 29 mpg

    Cargo (Seats down/Seats up)

    74.4 / 29.6 ft³

    Warranty

    60 months / 60,000 miles (Powertrain) 36 months / 36,000 miles (Bumper to Bumper)

    J.D. Power Rating

    84/100

The 2026 Subaru Forester uses Subaru’s rugged symmetrical all-wheel-drive system for ultimate traction on the trail or for daily driving. The 2.5-liter Boxer four-cylinder is paired with a Lineartronic CVT with low-shift mode, with a hybrid drivetrain available. Subaru does not give away its premium interior, so the base Forester comes with manually adjustable cloth seats. The base Forester has a large 12.3-inch fully configurable digital infotainment screen with a 4.2-inch driver information center – nothing too groundbreaking.

    Forester Price Trends

It holds excellent value after five years of ownership, only seeing a 32.5% reduction in value from its initial purchase price, making the Forester an excellent choice if you intend to trade in later.

    2026 Kia Sportage Hybrid

    Base MSRP: $30,490

2026 Kia Sportage Hybrid Base Model Overview

    Engine

    1.6-liter Turbocharged Inline 4-Cylinder Hybrid

    Cargo (Seats down/Seats up)

    73.7 / 39.5 ft³

    Warranty

    10 years / 100,000 miles

    J.D. Power Rating

    81/100

The 2026 Kia Sportage Hybrid makes it to the top three SUVs that offer the best value for the money. It uses a 1.6-liter four-cylinder gas engine paired with a ‘full parallel’ hybrid system, making a combined 232 horsepower. This hybrid engine arrangement is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, with Eco, Sport and MyDrive drive modes. The interior of the base model brings manually adjustable cloth seats up front and 60/40 reclining rear seats. A recurring pattern of a 12.3-inch infotainment screen with a smaller four-inch driver information center carries on with the Sportage as well.

    Sportage Price Trends

Depreciation is on the high end for the compact SUV class, at a 43.2% loss of value after the first five years of ownership, but still competitive overall against other SUVs.

    2026 Honda CR-V

    Base MSRP: $30,920

2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid Base Model Overview

    Engine

    2.0-liter Inline 4-Cylinder Hybrid

    J.D. Power Rating

    83/100

At some point, a Honda product had to hit this list, and true to form, the 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid is in the top two. Featuring front-wheel drive on the base model, the CR-V Hybrid has a Honda 2.0-liter turbocharged DOHC inline four-cylinder engine paired with a CVT. Hill descent and hill start assist modes come with the base model, but you will have to pay extra for Honda’s Real Time AWD system. The base-model CR-V also gets the manually adjustable cloth seat treatment for its five allowable occupants. If large screens are the priority, it may not suit you, as the infotainment screen measures in at only nine inches, with a seven-inch TFT (thin-film transistor) gauge cluster.

    CR-V Price Trends

The CR-V holds its value well, though only depreciating 28.9% after the first five years of ownership, further supporting the reason why it holds such a high position.

    J.D. Power Rating

    79/100

The 2026 Toyota RAV4 is the best SUV for the money (as far as this list is concerned). It is only available as a hybrid or PHEV, but this is a focus on the regular hybrid model. The base model uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder mated to an electronically controlled CVT, with the hybrid motors integrated into the CVT to drive the front wheels only on the base-model RAV4. The interior brings manually adjustable cloth front seats, with a 60/40 rear bench that drops down to open up 70.4 cubic feet of cargo hold. The RAV4 boasts two large screens, a 10.9-inch multimedia display and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. Hill Start, Trailer Sway, and Blind Spot assistance are all included with the base model as well.

    RAV4 Price Trends

Earning a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS, the RAV4 continues to be one of the strongest vehicles in its class for depreciation and high value retention. Reports show the RAV4 to experience only 25–28% depreciation after five years of ownership.
