GEELY Auto Australia has delivered its 20,000th new vehicle, doubling its local sales tally in just four months as the Chinese marque continues its rapid expansion across the Australian market.
The milestone vehicle, a Geely EX2 Inspire finished in Comet Grey with a Horizon Grey interior, was handed over at Geely Leichhardt in Sydney’s inner west on Friday August 21.
New owner Louise Mackrill said the compact battery-electric hatch represented a significant step up from her previous vehicle.
“It’s the perfect little city car. A massive upgrade after 20 years. It will be great as an everyday car running around with the kids,” she said.
The delivery comes little more than two weeks after Geely officially launched the EX2 in Sydney on August 5, making it the third model offered by the brand in Australia.
Geely entered the Australian passenger vehicle market with the EX5 battery-electric medium SUV in March 2025, followed by the Starray EM-i plug-in hybrid SUV in September last year.
The EX2 extends the brand’s reach into the affordable electric vehicle market and is positioned as an entry point to the Geely range, broadening its appeal among urban buyers and those considering their first battery-electric vehicle.
More significantly, Geely’s latest milestone comes only four months after the company celebrated its 10,000th Australian delivery in April, highlighting the pace at which its local sales volume has accelerated.
Geely also entered the VFACTS top-10 brands by sales in July, supported by the rapid expansion of its retail footprint.
The company now operates 80 showrooms nationally, with its dealership roll-out occurring alongside the introduction of additional models and what Geely describes as a strategy of making new-energy vehicle technology more accessible to Australian buyers.
Geely Auto Australia managing director Alex Gu said the latest result demonstrated the momentum the brand had established since arriving locally.
“It’s an incredibly exciting time for Geely. We only just celebrated our 10,000th sale in April and now celebrate our 20,000th customer,” he said.
“In doing so, we recognise and thank every one of our 20,000 new owners for choosing Geely.
“We are excited to have expanded our offering through the recent Geely EX2 launch, giving Australians new energy vehicle choices which suit their lifestyle and needs.”
Geely Leichhardt general sales manager Alexis Swaby said the dealership was pleased to have delivered the milestone vehicle.
“Reaching 20,000 Geely customers in Australia is an incredible milestone, and we’re extremely proud that Geely Leichhardt can be part of it,” he said.
“Being able to celebrate with Louise and Jonathan as they take home the new Geely EX2 makes it even more memorable for our team. It’s an exciting time for the Geely brand, and we’re thrilled to be part of its continued growth.”
The milestone further strengthens Geely’s position among the growing number of Chinese brands competing for Australian buyers, particularly in the increasingly crowded electric and plug-in hybrid segments.
